일리미스테라퓨틱스, 200억 규모 시리즈A 투자 유치 - 히트뉴스

200억을 시리즈 A에서 투자받았다고 해서 궁금해진 회사가 있다. 

일리미스 테라퓨틱스. 시리즈 A에서 200억원은 사실 이례적인 규모 같다. 

 

회사를 검색하니 여러가지가 나오네. 유튜브 동영상 채널도 있고. 

회사의 관련 지인들이 나와서 인터뷰로 칭찬하는 내용.

기본 기전은 아밀로이드를 인지하는 결합과 TAM receptor가 결합하게 해서 마이크로 글리아를 통해서 아밀로이드를 제거하는 기전을 목표로 하는 것 같다. 

마이크로 글리아는 뇌에 있는 마크로파지와 비슷한 역할을하는 것 같다. 

phargocytosis. 식세포 작용을 통해서 아밀로이드를 제거하는 방법.

뭐 암튼 몇가지 유리한 점들이 있는데 그것을 가지고 네이쳐 에이징에 논문을 냈는데, 바이오벤처가 논문이 있는 것은 사실 큰 유리한 점이 되는 것 같다. 이 점이 200억원 투자를 받는데 도움이 되었던 듯. 

웃긴 점은 2022년에 나왔는데, 인용이 8밖에 없는 것은 좀...ㅋㅋ

• Total Citations in 2020 and 2021 = 500
• Total Number of Publications in 2020 and 2021 = 100
• Impact Factor of the Journal in 2022 = 500/100 = 5

네이쳐이지만 네이처 에이징의 임팩트 팩터도 5 정도로 네이쳐 치고는 낮은 편이다.

역시 있었고, 일부 회사의 경우에는 이미 임상에 들어간 듯 보인다.

Monoclonal antibody targeting TREM2 receptors to promote microglial clearance of Aβ

This humanized monoclonal IgG1 antibody is being developed in a partnership between Alector and AbbVie. It binds the microglial receptor TREM2 and activates signaling, increasing phosphorylation of TREM2's downstream effector Syk, and inducing microglia proliferation. AL002a, a variant of AL002 that recognizes mouse TREM2, reportedly doubled the number of CD11b-positive microglia in cortex and hippocampus 72 hours after injection in APP/PS1 mice. Microglia expressed more pro-inflammatory and repair genes, and nearby amyloid deposits were nearly halved (Dec 2016 conference news). The antibody produced similar results in 5XFAD mice after 72 hours.

 

얀센,다잘렉스. 다잘렉스는 이미 혈액암 치료제로 승인 받은 약물인데, 이게 마이크로 글리아에도 영향을 끼칠 수 있는 모양이다. 이점은 좀 유리한듯.

이 약물은 바이오의약품은 아닌듯 보인다. 저분자 화합물인듯. 마이크로 글리아의 증식을 촉진시키는 역할을 하는 것 처럼 보인다.

Edicotinib (JNJ-40346527) is a potent, selective, brain penetrant and orally active colony-stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF-1R) inhibitor with an IC50 of 3.2 nM. Edicotinib exhibits less inhibitory effects on KIT and FLT3 with IC50 values of 20 nM and 190 nM, respectively. Edicotinib limits microglial expansion and attenuates microglial proliferation and neurodegeneration in mice. Edicotinib has the potential for Alzheimer’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis research.

 

일리미스 테라퓨틱스는 시리즈 A에서 200억원을 받았는데 개인적으로는 좀 높은 금액 같다. 

시리즈 A가 200억원이면 B, C, 그리고 주식시장 상장까지 가면 금액이 매우 커질텐데 감당 가능하게 파이프라인을 개발이 진행될지는 앞으로 봐야 할 것 같다. 

논문 수준에서는 어느정도 기전이 연구된 것도 있고 그렇지만, 인더스트리 수준에서의 실험을 통제하면서 했던 실험 결과가 있는지, 그리고 플랫폼에 대한 강력한 특허가 어느정도 있는지 궁금하다. 

뭐 나는 내부자가 아니니까. 알 수는 없고, 추정만 할 뿐이다. ㅋㅋ

대표의 경력은 투자 관련 회사들과 몇번 창업 또는 바이오벤처에서 일했던 경험이 있는 것 같고, 투자 관련 회사에서 경력을 만든 것이 이번 투자 유치에 영향을 미친 것 처럼 보인다. 

역시 돈을 끌어모으는 능력은 중요한 것 중에 하나다. ㅋㅋ
